A day full of satisfactions for the Isola d’Ischia Marathon Club. A fifth place overall, a category podium, six personal records and an excellent placement in the club rankings in the Pomigliano race. Nine standard bearers of the island team took part in the first edition of the Memorial Angelo Passariello in Pomigliano, a running race over a distance of ten kilometers in which around seven hundred athletes took part. The island athletes who arrived in Pomigliano just in time due to a ferry delay behaved admirably. Cover for the Marathon Club star Andrii Chukraiuk who achieved a prestigious fifth place overall and achieved his personal best in 33’40”, a timely achievement of absolute value, despite a debilitating flu attack that had struck him in recent days.
Followed by Giovanni Castaldi who achieved an excellent third place in the SM50 category with a time of 38’55”. Marco Trani in 39’34” collects yet another race under forty minutes in 2024. Personal best for Francesco Manzi who in his second race with the colors of the Marathon Club improves by about a minute compared to the Frattamaggiore race, finishing in 40′ 23″. Same time for Alessandro Venza who confirmed himself at high levels. Great improvement and personal record for Francesco Monti who improved by over three minutes reaching the finish line in 41’57”. The veteran Salvatore Parnolfi who on the threshold of sixty years of age finished his test in 42’00” at the excellent pace of 4’12” per kilometre: for the series, class is not water. Ciro Curci also improved, approaching the threshold of 4’30” per kilometre, finishing in 45’54”. In the women’s field, Inna Varvashevish confirmed her current level in 55’43” as she was unable to train continuously in this period. In the company ranking, a flattering eleventh place out of ninety-five companies present for the Marathon Club Isola d’Ischia. The ninth edition of the Lucca Half Marathon, a 1km distance race, was held in Lucca. 21,097 in which Gerardo Lombardo took part and, along a very flat route, set his personal record in 1h24’07”, a chronometric achievement of excellent value. Finally, applause goes to our athlete Claudio Di Iorio, passionate about athletic training, who dispenses technical advice in a disinterested manner to his teammates who have all seen notable improvements in performance.
