With the certainty of being able to put their opponents in difficulty, taking advantage of some tips provided by coach Mazzola, Lavinia Group Volley Trani started the second set in the best possible way. Captain Giusy Miranda led the charge for her teammates, scoring the first point of the second set. Having taken the initiative, the blue and white kept it until 10-8, demonstrating the right determination on every attack and placed ball from their opponents. Taking advantage of a ball change, Polis Volley Corato broke the rhythm of the Trani team who momentarily recovered up to 13-12. However, a series of errors during the build-up phase by Polis broke the deadlock (16-13) and guaranteed a comfortable margin until the end of the set (25-17), which ended with another point from the Trani captain.
Given the success of the strategy adopted in the previous set, the coach from Trani asked his team to repeat the script, not giving their opponents a moment’s respite who, after a winning series of serves from Daniela Spaccavento, found themselves trailing 9-4 . The Coratinas then found the equalizer with five balls on the ground, but they didn’t take into account Alessia Dileo who, once unblocked, transformed every ball she touched into a point. Some carelessness allowed the guests’ players to erode the accumulated deficit and draw first at 21 and finally at 23 points. Once again Giusy Miranda brought out the right competitive energy from him and facilitated the victory of the third half of the game after having achieved the advantage (26-24).
At 2-1 for Lavinia Group Volley Trani, the fourth set became fundamental for both teams. In fact, Polis Volley immediately took the lead by five points, taking advantage of the same number of imprecise attacks from the Trani team. The situation went on until 2-9 when, once again, Alessia Dileo thought about ruining the opposing team’s plans and, together with the lateral Francesca Mitoli, found important points. Even the second line from Trani was no exception with Gabriella Randolfi who was impeccable on every ball that arrived in her area. Despite the advantage of the visiting team, at 18-22, the Trani team managed to overturn the situation, bringing the score to 23-22 and forcing the opposing coach to spend both goals in the space of just a few points. Having once again gained the advantage, the Trani team spent their last remaining energy to definitively block the opposition’s reaction with two points coming from as many surgical strikes by Terry Mastropasqua, who was brought onto the pitch to resolve the delicate situation.
