CERVIA: “Viva Vittoria” on the beach, blankets and murals against gender violence | VIDEO

FULVIO ZAPPATORE

Let’s go to the free beach of Cervia which is preparing to host an event scheduled for the day of awareness against violence against women. Let’s see what it’s about. A huge blanket handmade by women from all over Italy to say enough to gender violence but also to affirm that violence can be stopped starting from ourselves, from the awareness that we are the creators of our lives. This is the message launched by the Viva Vittoria association which, after having organized a series of events already in various Italian cities, will also arrive in Cervia on 6 October, on the occasion of the day of awareness against violence against women. There are 5 months to go until the appointment but the preparatory work has already begun: “The women who have already done it in other cities are helping us – explains Emma Derocchi – and there are many groups here in Emilia-Romagna who are working to allow to make these blankets” Along with this it was decided to embellish the concrete cabins of the free beach that will host the event. The Viva Vittoria volunteers turned to the Cesena tattoo artist Virginia Verona who, in turn, called her colleagues: “Asking me to do all these booths, I thought it was a bit too much on my own, so I decided to involve other women, by chance they were also tattoo artists, to try to create a connection between the woman, the world of art and the event” The beach is now ready and waiting for October 6th for the setting up of the large blanket: “There are more coming so many – they explain from Viva Vittoria – we are waiting for others to arrive because if we want to cover this entire beach we will need 16 thousand”
