This Is The End, the exhibition in Monza and its artists: who is Andrea Meregalli

Artist: Andrea Meregalli

Andrea Meregalli

Andrea Meregalli was born in Seregno (MB) in 1977, lives and works in Monza. After graduating from high school and graduating in architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan, he opened his own professional studio with Maddalena Merlo, dealing with design at different levels. At the same time develops personal research projects in the artistic and editorial fields, working for years without exposing anything. In 2020, during the lockdown, he decides to make his work public, he creates Culomiaostamp engraved in the rubber, and the Culomiao Editions, independent distillery of self-produced books and spirits. In 2022 he published for Postmediabooks “The Adventures of Culomiao”, with an afterword by Giulio Alvigini. Thoughts, words, works and obsessions. Research in visual communication has its roots in technical and scientific studies. The works oscillate between total randomness and maniacal control. He transmits messages through paintings, drawings, prints, one-off books and digital techniques. He uses pencils, pens, markers and everyday objects together with acrylics, enamels, oil, pixels and molds. Always attentive to new technologies, he immediately began experimenting with artificial intelligence software for generating images, with texts and videos to support his research. With his work he aims to represent everyday life in its uselessness, the patinas, the stratification and the psychosis between irony and paradox. Few emotions. Just enough cynicism to make the present bearable.

In 2024 he is the curator of the personal exhibition “The usual writings” Of Giulio Alvigini at the Opos space in Milan. Among the exhibitions we highlight: the collective “Scoletta dell’Arte: Digital reform”in Venice organized by Taex edited by Antonio Geusa; the collective “The game” edited by Silvia Franceschi at Spazio Blue Train and The Kitchen art gallery in Milan; the personal “Collective Psyche” edited by Vittoria Mascellaro to the gallery Contemporary Villa in Monza; the collective “The Rights From Future Generations. A Perspective On (A)rt And (I)nnovation” edited by Vittoria Mascellaroin the rooms of Court theater of the Royal Villa of Monza; Baw 2022 Bolzano Art Weeks, Memento/Moment(o)/Monument(o) curated by Nina Stricker. Since 2023 he has been invited to various talks on the relationship between art and artificial intelligence and has exhibited three artists’ books at Book object, at the Adi Design museum in Milan. On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2023 he is the creator of the Milano desAIgn Week and the Monza desAIgn Week.
