Between environmental sustainability, food safety and exploitation of fish resources
SIENA. A journey to the edge of the world to discover the fastest growing food sector, fish farming, told by the director Francesco De Augustinis. The May 9th at 3pmin the Morishima room of the San Francesco branch of the University of Siena (piazza San Francesco 7), the screening of the docufilm will be held “Until the end of the world”.
The projection, which the director Francesco De Augustinis will be present, will be introduced by Salvatore Bimontedirector of the Department of Political Economy and Statistics.
Un story to discover the impact of aquaculture, a rapidly growing food sector, across three continents to investigate the industry that today promises to contribute to making the food system more sustainable, in the face of a world population that could reach 9.7 billion people in 2050.
Fish farming and then the environment, food safety, colonization, land and water hoarding, are the subject of journalistic investigation. Starting from the Mediterranean (Italy, Greece, Spain), passing through Senegal, to reach the once pristine waters of Chilean Patagonia, the film exposes the conflicts over the resources that this industry produces, making enormous profits and presenting itself as a champion of sustainability.
