The Pacinotti nursery and nursery school will be used as a polling station for the next administrative and European elections. A rather unusual solution considering that schools that host older children and teenagers are normally used to create as little inconvenience as possible for families.
“The school – writes Fabio Anselmo giving voice to the children’s parents – will remain closed from Thursday 6th to Tuesday 11th June, creating great inconvenience for the families involved. This demonstrates the administration’s total inability to plan the closures taking into consideration the difficulties of those who cannot count on the support of family members while working.”
However, what most struck the candidate for mayor and the family members involved was that “when asked for explanations by the parents, Mayor Fabbri responded in a vague and indifferent way, rejecting responsibility without providing solutions”. “An answer – adds Anselmo – which is also contemptuous in tone, which reduces more than 150 families to difficulty and brings to mind a policy that hides behind mere propaganda. These families have my closeness which I will try to express by going to visit them, confident that in a month – finally – Ferrara will have a different approach to issues of community and gender attention”.
In his response, the mayor explains that normally the ITI is used for the 7 seats but on this occasion it is not possible due to the work of the Pnrr. Furthermore, it places the responsibility on the Province which “has not renewed its (the school’s, ed.) availability to be a polling station”. Thus Pacinotti (5 seats) and Don Milani (2 seats) were chosen, “solutions – writes the mayor – shared with the Prefecture as the competent body which has the final decision”.
What seems to have most struck mayoral candidate Fabio Anselmo is Fabbri’s lack of openness to alternative proposals but also of calling the Province and Prefecture into question to justify the choices. In short, it seems clear that the lawyer and probably also the parents would have preferred at least an attempt at dialogue rather than the justification of a choice already made.
