The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, approved the appointments and movement of the Prefects, announcing important changes within the prefectural body. Among the decisions taken, there is the appointment of Dr. Rossana Riflesso, from Barletta-Andria-Trani, destined to carry out the functions of Prefect of Avellino.
Rossana Riflesso will replace Paola Spena, who has had a new role at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. This provision was made in view of the assignment of the role of Extraordinary Commissioner, provided for by article 6, paragraph 1, of the legislative decree of 2 March 2024, n. 19, concerning the recovery and refunctionalization of assets confiscated from organized crime. The choice to entrust Rossana Riflesso with the role of Prefect of Avellino was dictated by various considerations, including the experience gained over the years and the specific skills that Dr. Riflesso will be able to put at the service of the Irpinia area.
Currently Prefect of Barletta-Andria-Trani, 59 years old, Dr. Riflesso entered the prefectural career roles in the Ministry of the Interior in 1990 with the qualification of Prefectural Councilor. He served as Vice Prefect at the Prefectures of Belluno (1990/1991), Foggia (1991/1993), Palermo (1993/2000), Bari (in 2001/2011), Barletta-Andria-Trani (2011) and again Bari ( 2011-2017). She became Vice Prefect with vicarious functions in 2017 in the Territorial Office of the Government of Barletta-Andria-Trani, before assuming, in October of the same year, a similar role in the Prefecture of Bari. Numerous roles and special services conferred by the Ministry of the Interior to Dr. Riflesso throughout her career, including those as Extraordinary Commissioner in the Municipalities of Turi, Bitetto, Gioia del Colle, Gravina in Puglia, Palo del Colle and Corato and as Sub-Commissioner of the Province of Bari and the municipalities of Vieste, Conversano, Noci, Altamura, Barletta, Trani, Gravina in Puglia, Molfetta and Adelfia. In the session of the Council of Ministers on 26 July 2022, on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, Dr. Rossana Riflesso was appointed Prefect of Barletta-Andria-Trani, where she assumed her duties on the following 4 August.
