Handball: Andimoda Ragusa returns to victory, triumphs in the derby against Agriblu Scicli

The long-awaited victory for Andimoda Ragusa has finally arrived. And it came at the end of a match conducted from start to finish against the “cousins” of Agriblu Scicli. So, if possible, an even more special flavor for the seven coached by Salvatore Russo in the penultimate match of the men’s handball Serie B championship, won with a score of 38-29 (20-9) in the first half.

Of note are captain Gabriele Giummarra’s thirteen goals and Daniele Buffolino’s 9. An absolutely memorable first half for the entire group who, despite having to deal with the usual difficulties linked to the lack of personnel, threw their hearts over the obstacle and managed to put their foot down on the accelerator as hoped for by many within Ragusa society.

“Let’s say that, this time – underline from Andimoda Ragusa – we took our great satisfaction. We operated following the technical dictates coming from the bench as best we could and tried to take just one bite out of the opponent. Unlike other times, we were able to build a margin of advantage such that the usual decline in the second half, caused by our short bench, did not affect the final outcome of the match too much. We are now preparing for the match against Arethusa on Sunday at 5pm. The hope is to continue to put in another good performance even if that match will, for us, be closed by prediction. But, as always, we will try.”

Meanwhile, Ragusa hosted the Under 13 concentration last Sunday. In the matches against Albatro Siracusa, the young Iblei players recorded a defeat and a victory but the most important aspect is linked to the growth of the team which represents a point of reference, in the years to come, in terms of generational change.
