The fear and a bit of concern, legitimate and natural after seeing a team increasingly break up, will certainly leave a lesson to remember in the future.
However fascinating the initial project might have been, coach Paolo Bianco’s Modena had everything except the DNA of a Serie B team. Love for ball possession, continuous movement in search of space, but a defensive phase very far from one acceptable standard and cynicism in that offensive which has never been a friend of the canaries. After the Catanzaro (perhaps even a little earlier) here is the concern we were talking about and the choice to rely on safe used goods, on those who know the B by heart and would have brought the ship to port at any cost, in any way.
And so now Modena, mathematically safe after the draw with Como, finds itself having to deal with a series of decisions to make; we will talk about it again after Lecco, probably at the end of May the project for the 2024/25 championship will be put in place. Pierpaolo Bisoli, in the event of relegation, would have thanked Modena for the opportunity and friends as before. Obviously, aware of the coach’s skill in this sense, the club has ensured the presence of Porretta’s coach on the bench also for 2025 and this is the first, true, certainty that will take us straight to the summer preparation in July. Everything else will be discussed, so as not to repeat the famous mistakes made in the past and present. What did the numbers say? First of all, despite winning in Lecco, Modena will not match last year’s path. They could close on 47, therefore with one point less than the team coached by Attilio Tesser. But it has been said that there has been no improvement.
The average of goals scored is practically one per game (38 in 37 games), with Bisoli Modena scored just once but this too is a well-known problem to be solved because the way in which the Canaries will play will involve the maximum possible pragmatism and improving your aim is perhaps the priority. Bisoli has identified his skeleton and this is a good starting point for building the house. He will have to sit at a table, which Davide Vaira is also called upon to remedy.
Lecco-Modena. Once safety has been achieved and the hosts have already been relegated, the match will no longer need to be played at the same time as the others. We will know between today and tomorrow if it can be brought forward from the official time of 8.30pm. But almost certainly, according to at least last night’s updates, the kick-off will remain the one already set.
