Herculaneum, Vesuvius, turning point at an altitude of one thousand: the toilets have been fixed

For years, tourists have had to climb over barriers to go and do their business in the pine forests. After arriving up there, at an altitude of one thousand, before climbing the crater, they couldn’t find the bathrooms and when he ran away, he ran away!

Today, they finally were toilets installed on Vesuviusthe lack of which was one of the causes of the frequent protests by tourist operators who gravitate around the volcano circuit.

On May 1st, four toilet modules were installed and made accessible at the entrance to path 5 which leads to the crater of Vesuvius. This innovation represents a further step in optimizing the services offered to visitors. Vesuvius National Park trail 5, which leads to the crater, recorded further six hundred thousand visitors in the last year.

With the installation of toilets, the management of the protected area is committed to guaranteeing an additional service for the many tourists who choose to visit Vesuvius. The installed bathrooms are manned by operators who ensure their cleaning at all times with a pre-established intervention programme. At the end of the day, general sanitization of the modules is expected.

The safety and well-being of visitors exploring the crater of Vesuvius are our top priority. With this further optimization, the visit to the Crater of Vesuvius Park will be even more pleasant and safe.”
