The Europe of Peoples with the Inimitables in Ancona

The director of “CulturaIdentità” Edoardo Sylos Labini will tell Sunday 12 May the “Inimitables” and the Europe of the peoples in an interview-show in the splendid setting of the identity city of Ancona.

Starting from RAI broadcastwhich brought four giants of Italian history to the small screen, accompanied by the maestro Sergio Colicchio (author of the program’s music), Sylos Labini will introduce it to the public Giuseppe Mazzini with his prophetic vision of Young Europe, Gabriele d’Annunziowho from Fiume launched the struggle of oppressed peoples against strangulating finance, and Filippo Tommaso Marinettiwhirlwind father of Futurism and inspirer of avant-gardes and artists in Europe and around the world.

As a backdrop to the interview, conducted by the deputy director of “Il Giornale” Francesco Maria Del Vigothe Orfeo Tamburi auditorium in the imposing Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona, with the participation of Anna Maria Bertinicouncilor for culture of Ancona, Cecilia Casadeiof the “Resto del Carlino” and a signature well known also to the readers of “CulturaIdentità”, and Carlo Ciccioli, of the Marche regional council. A parterre that he will illustrate with Sylos Labini the identity symbols of Ancona.

A unique city, with its walks “from sea to sea”. Founded by the Greeks – Ankon in Hellenic it means “elbow”, due to the shape of its promontory – it was one proud and free maritime republic. She was annexed to the papal dominions, and in exchange she received notable works, including the stupendous one Mole Vanvitellianawanted by Pope Clement XII. An imposing structure: a pentagonal fortress-lazaretto which had to simultaneously defend the city from invaders, from the waves and give hospice to the sick, taking care of them adequately with the means of the time and preventing the spread of infectious diseases. With great sensitivity and pity religious, Vanvitelli had placed a very elegant pentagonal temple in the center, open on the sides, which allowed the patients to listen to Mass without having to enter a closed building. The small temple, dedicated to San Rocco, protector from plagues, is made of Istrian stone, like most of the decorative elements. A stone imported from beyond the Adriatic, testifying to the importance of Ancona for that sea.

Now in the auditorium built in the rooms of what was once a fortress and a hospital there stands – among other things – a auditorium. The unmissable evening of culture and entertainment will be held in this room, with free entry. So, meet up Sunday 12 May, at 8.30 pm at the Mole Vanvitelliana with “The Europe of Peoples and the Inimitable”.
