A mural as a permanent commitment to saying “No to gender violence”. It will be inaugurated on Thursday 9 May, on the occasion of “Europe Day”, at 6.30 pm, in the Protected Hearings Area of ​​the Anti-Violence Desk of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office. The mural was created as part of the project “You can’t call it love! created by the V Circle “Hon. Francesco De Vita” of Marsala, financed by the regional Department of Education and Training of the Sicily Region within the “Art. Of every gender” interventions for the promotion of legality and gender equality.

The project was born from the collaboration between the V Circolo of Marsala and the Anti-Violence Desk of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office coordinated by Marshal Davide Bertolino and is an example of the virtuous collaboration between local bodies to try to prevent and promote the culture of legality. The project will end on Thursday 9 May, “Europe Day”. at 6.30 pm, with the inauguration of the Mural which will be installed in the Protected Hearings Area of ​​the Anti-Violence Desk of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office. with a monologue by Massimo Graffeo, played by Cinzia Bochicchio and a Jazz concert by the Mauro Carpi Quartet.

Made in an emblematic place, which becomes an “exemplum” not only for the public but above all for those who are about to make a change in their lives in those rooms, becoming in turn an “Exemplum” for many women who do not they dare to raise their heads. The event will be attended by the President of the Court of Marsala Alessandra Camassa, the Prosecutor of the Republic of Marsala Fernando Asaro, the school director Vita D’Amico, the General Director USR Sicilia Giuseppe Pierro, the Regional Councilor for Education and Training Mimmo Turano and the Mayor of Marsala Massimo Grillo.

By participating in various reading and creative workshops, the students created the mural using the collage technique. They worked on the paintings of a contemporary artist, creating a dreamlike image of “Love” and “Beauty” that become everyday life. The graphic creation of the mural starts from the idea of ​​the artist Alessandra Carloni (street artist), the designer is Antonio Mauro, who revisited the work with the children. “On the topic of rights, of the equal personal and social dignity of women and men, the terrain to cover is the cultural one because only cultural evolution can make the equality acquired with the laws real; it is the terrain where we can hope to modify ideas, attitudes that, unconsciously in daily life, we make our own, maintaining a habit and a rigidly simplified vision of reality (stereotype) which mortifies personal and social life which must, instead, be enriched both by female and male component”declares the manager of the V Circolo of Marsala Vita D’Amico.
