Alberti district, there is a cycle path to be fixed

The conditions of Viale Alberti are paradigmatic of the situation in which many of Ravenna’s cycle paths find themselves. The depressions produced by the roots of trees, very dangerous not only for the elderly, are one of the most widespread problems, just think of via Cilla or the subway of via Maggiore where you risk flying into the air if you get distracted and take your eyes off Earth. In reality, there are many problems, starting from the interruptions that force cyclists to alternate sections on the cycle path with others on roads, even with high traffic. Safe crossings are often lacking and, in general, cycle paths are poorly equipped and therefore difficult to use, especially over long distances. Its use should be encouraged and not only in the center where, among other things, the coexistence between cyclists and pedestrians has always been the cause of controversy, as well as accidents. Among the projects that will be carried out thanks to Pnrr funding there are many linked to sustainable mobility, starting from the Adriatica cycle route which, in our territory, will connect Porto Corsini and the Classe pine forest and various other routes along the coast and in the surrounding area. Cycle paths must be thought of as an overall project, capable of ’embracing’ the entire territory and once created they must not be abandoned to themselves, only to then intervene with patches and temporary solutions which end up creating even more damage. Otherwise they will never become a real and sustainable alternative.
