Sky Sport made a documentary on Milan’s victory in 1994: the conquest of the Champions League in the year of Berlusconi as prime minister
An invincible – or almost – team that is certainly among the most loved by Rossoneri fans. We are referring to Milan protagonist in the season 1994, when led by Fabio Capello it conquered the Champions League. A controversial year, which saw Silvio Berlusconi’s descent into politics, complete with his election as Prime Minister.
“Milan 1994, more than a team”, the new production Sky Sports which will be broadcast tomorrow, Tuesday 7 May at 7pm in the first episode, with the second scheduled for Saturday 18 May at 2.30pm. This production can also be seen on NOW streaming and on demand.
A real battleship that in defense could count on five players who grew up in the academy and were capable of writing the history of the club: from Franco Baresi – captain for 17 seasons – a Paolo Maldiniwho in 1994 was named footballer of the year for World Soccer and was able to win 27 trophies, two more than Alessandro Costacurta. Impossible, then, not to mention Filippo Galli and the captain of that formation, Mauro Tassotti.

The triumphal year was reconstructed in great detail through archive material from both Sky Sport and Telepiù, appropriately restored after being recovered. The victory of the Champions League came on 18 May 1994, a date that many will remember, also significant for Italian political life, considering how on that date the Senate of the Italian Republic confirmed its trust in Berlusconi.
DJ Ringo, a well-known Rossoneri fan, also reminds Baresi and Costacurta of that final because they didn’t play that final. Various contributions made it possible to reconstruct that season: from Caressa to Porrà to the deans Maurizio Mosca and Aldo Biscardi.
The defeat withOlympique Marseille as a watershed moment, the disqualification of the transalpine club, the purchase of Desailly in the market, the disqualifications of Baresi and Costacurta but also a Johann Cruyff as a provocateur the day before the final.
A documentary that intertwines sporting life with the political life of our country. And as many as 30 repertoire entries that recount those moments through memories experienced firsthand, from politicians to entertainment personalities to former footballers.
