Undeclared work, financial controls: huge fines

Grosseto. During the month of April, the soldiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Grosseto identified, in two separate interventions, three workers who carried out their services completely “off the books”.

The activity to combat undeclared work, which will be progressively intensified as the summer season approaches, is aimed at protecting both economic operators who respect the rules and the interests and dignity of workers.

Specifically, the Fiamme Gialle of Porto Santo Stefanoduring an economic-financial police check carried out against a bed and breakfast, they found the presence of two women intent on cleaning the rooms in the absence of the required communications regarding their hiring. These notices, mandatory by law for all types of subordinate work, were also omitted from one retail sale in Castiglione della Pescaia, where the Financiers, after having verified the “electronic storage” of the fees, found that the clerk who assisted them had never been formally hired.

In both cases they were applied maxi administrative fines for irregular work, ranging from 1,950 to 11,700 euros for each “off the books” worker employed for less than a month.

Furthermore, the violation perpetrated by the Porto Santo Stefano bed and breakfast was promptly reported to the Grosseto Labor Inspectorate, which notified the accommodation facility on provision for suspension of activityavoidable only with the immediate hiring of the two irregular workers and with the payment of a further fine of 2,500 euros.

“Undeclared work is a plague for the entire economic system because it takes resources away from the treasury, undermines the interests of workers, who are often exploited, and generates improper competitive advantages – it is read in a note from the Fiamme Gialle -. The described activities are part of the broader mechanism put in place by the Grosseto Financial Police to protect honest citizens and companies that respect the rules”.
