From the ingredients in the kitchen to love, from wine to the pleasures of life, starting from the unlikely and fortunate discovery of a youthful manuscript by Gioacchino Rossini, lost somewhere in the lands of Romagna where the composer lived his youth: it is Rossini flambé of Teatro Due Mondi, which will be on stage on Wednesday 8 May at 9pm in Piazzetta San Nicolò, in Ferrara, as part of Rabicano | International Theater Festival for Open Spaces organized by Teatro Nucleo.

«We find ourselves inside a restaurant managed by two “twin” brothers who are absolutely not similar to each other, Otello and Idilio, in which two assistant cooks and an attendant also work» explains the director Alberto Grilli «On the difficult choice between a menu linked to traditional regional cuisine and another more attentive to contemporary health needs, the conflict begins between the two brothers, who find their collaborators as allies or enemies. The chefs sing and play kitchen instruments, saucepans, pots and cutlery, wearing masks which, together with the cooking and the music, recall another world-famous Italian style, the Commedia dell’Arte”.

From picture to picture the wild chefs drag the audience into a whirlwind of unexpected events, amorous skirmishes, mischief and culinary disasters, successes and triumphs of taste and pleasure.

«Rossini flambé is a show for adults and children that tells about Italy and its flavors and sounds, which brings to light the passion for life and its pleasures as a characteristic feature of our popular culture» add the performers Federica Belmessieri, Tanja Horstmann , Angela Pezzi, Maria Regosa and Renato Valmori «We think of the kitchen as a place of conviviality par excellence and of theater and music as spaces for sharing stories and emotions. There is therefore joy in seasoning every scene of the show with laughter and wonder.”

Starting from the sounds of comic opera, Antonella Talamonti, Giovanna Marini’s historical collaborator, composed original music and arrangements for this work which alternate with the most famous Rossini overtures and which tell of passions and contrasts in the kitchen.

Free and free entry.
