Wednesday 8 May passes “Tour of Italy” and the city is preparing to manage the event which, inevitably, will have a significant impact on vehicular mobility and the consequent need to guarantee adequate safety conditions for residents, spectators, athletes and the organisation. In this regard – following the indications of the Prefecture of La Spezia which requested the early closure of traffic two and a half hours before the time of the presumed passage of the cyclists – the mayor of Sarzana Cristina Ponzanelli has foreseen, with a specific ordinance, the Early exit of students from Sarzana schools of all levels by 12.15pm. Citizens are therefore invited to check the details of the exit times at the schools they belong to. As regards traffic and vehicular parking, a parking ban has been imposed, with the removal of vehicles on both sides of the road, from 10 am until the completion of the cycling race on the streets listed below:

– Via Cisa, from the intersection of Via Variante Cisa to the intersection with Via Dante Alighieri;
– Via Luigi Neri from the intersection of Viale Mazzini with Via L/Neri and opening of the Porta Romana gate;
– Via Luigi Neri from the intersection of P.zza Garibaldi to the intersection with Via San Bartolomeo;
-Via Aurelia on the Pisa side from the Villa Ollandini roundabout to the intersection with the Via Variante Aurelia.
– No parking in Piazza San Giorgio both in the paid and loading/unloading stalls

The ordinance also establishes the interruption of vehicular traffic on the routes that intersect the race route within the municipal territory of competence: these are Via Cisa, Via Porta Parma, Via Sobborgo Spina, Piazza San Giorgio, Via Sobborgo Emiliano, Via Luigi Neri, Viale Mazzini and Via Aurelia Pisa side. All vehicles are prohibited from circulating on the aforementioned roads starting from two hours and thirty minutes before the passage of the competitors, scheduled for 3.37 pm, calculated according to the fastest average shown on the time table and will end no later than 10 minutes after the passage of the vehicle bearing the mobile “end of cycling race” sign. The ordinance specifies that at each point of the route, during the suspension of traffic, the transit of any vehicle not following the race is prohibited, in both directions of travel of the sections subject to the movement of the competitors (i.e. on the lanes or in the sections subject to the above limitation); The parking of any vehicle in both directions of the sections subject to the movement of competitors is prohibited (i.e. on the lanes or in the sections subject to the aforementioned limitation); all drivers of vehicles are prohibited from entering the race route (i.e. on the lanes or in the sections affected by the aforementioned limitation); all drivers of vehicles coming from roads or areas that intersect or enter the road reserved for the transit of competitors are obliged to stop respecting the manual or light signals of the bodies in charge of supervision or of the organization’s staff. Both vehicle drivers and pedestrians are prohibited from crossing the race route. Without prejudice to the need to adopt all the precautions necessary to avoid dangers for the competitors, the prohibitions and obligations indicated above do not apply to drivers of vehicles used for police, fire and first aid services, as well as to those specifically authorized by the organization or by the police bodies responsible for supervision.
