“Lombardy first in digital transformation”

AGI – Lombardy is “at the forefront” of digital transformation. This is what emerged during the meeting held in the branch office of the Department for Digital Transformation, in the Metropolitan City of Milan, as part of the cycle of provincial meetings “Pa Digitale 2026 Roadshow Lombardy”, in which the undersecretary to the presidency of Council with responsibility for technological innovation, Alessio Butti, shared the vision and goals achieved in terms of digitalisation at a territorial level.

“Collaboration and human relationships are the beating heart of the digital transformation process. Every local success – observed Butti – is a piece that contributes to the mosaic of our digital and connected Italy. The numbers reported today are not just statistics, but represent real improvements in the daily lives of citizens. The meetings that have taken place in recent months aim to make even more tangible the professional and human bond that unites us, from the center to the territories, in the work we are carrying out for the digital transformation of the country the opening of the Milan branch of our Department, as has already happened in other Regions, to work together, overcoming critical issues, focusing on the efficiency and quality of services offered to citizens, in line with the objectives of innovation and social inclusion promoted by the government and with those envisaged by the Pnrr”.

The event saw the presence of 200 municipal administrators and technicians from the municipalities of the provinces of Milan and Monza Brianza. Milan was the penultimate stage of the Roadshow, which is touching all the Lombardy provinces to take stock of the progress of the digitalisation projects financed by the Pnrr and identify the next objectives together. To date, those achieved in the provinces of Milan and Monza and Brianza are of great importance: 98.5% of the Municipalities in the province of Milan have joined digitalisation initiatives, such as ‘migration to the cloud’ and ‘digital identity adoption’ . From the meeting it emerged that the provincial territory of Monza and Brianza also has a higher positioning than the national average for all measures dedicated to municipal administrations and the participation of 100% of healthcare and hospital companies in the province of Milan in the dedicated Multimeasure Notice, “testifies to a widespread commitment to digital health”.

With approximately 17 million euros allocated, the area is in third place in Italy for funding attributed to healthcare entities. Finally, the Province of Milan and that of Monza and Brianza are confirmed among the national leaders of the Electronic Identity Card (Cie), issued respectively to 75.07 and 75.9% of the inhabitants (compared to a national average of 68 %). Extraordinary results, in particular, for Milan (93%) and Monza (84.7%).
