BRINDISI – The month of May is tinged with culture and storytelling in Brindisi with the inauguration today of the first “Festival of Voices in Movement”, an initiative promoted to celebrate the power of reading aloud. Organized in the city’s neighborhood houses, the festival aims to transform meeting spaces into places of literary discovery and sharing and more.

A program created to involve all age groups with a rich calendar of events suitable for everyone. In this first edition, the festival highlights the beauty of reading with multiple voices. Thanks to the participation of readers trained in the elocution workshops held by Paola Martelli and in the national workshop «A Voce Explained» conducted by Francesca Della Monica and in collaboration with the Social and Participatory Library of Parco Buscicchio, the public will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in stories and tales.

Special guests and theatrical and circus shows, dance, concerts and workshops. Names such as Mara Morini, Michele Volpi, Gianluigi Cosi, Alice Caroppo and Anna Pia De Sario stand out, theatrical performances together with the actor Luigi D’Elia, interactive workshops and thematic talks with all the protagonists of the Neighborhood Houses of Brindisi, Bologna and Turin , reading with the independent publishing house Collettiva, with the independent bookseller and reading aloud expert Chiara Sergio and with La Meridiana editions, trampolieri, Poetry Slam, concert-workshops with Alessandra Manti, Isabella Benone and Alessandro Muscillo, a series of workshops reading inside the parks organized by the schools in collaboration with the Municipal Council for Children.

The Festival aims to be an experience of sharing and cultural growth, aimed at promoting reading as an educational, aggregation and personal growth moment. Thanks to the collaboration between the various Neighborhood Houses of Brindisi and the efforts of professionals in the sector, the festival aims to stimulate curiosity and love for the written word.

In line with the local Reading Pacts, the national «Voci di Casa» project has generated a connection between the Neighborhood Houses of Bologna, Turin and Brindisi, has promoted culture, social inclusion through the magic of reading aloud voice.

The project is funded by the Center for Books and Reading. The aim is to enhance the social function of reading aloud, an action that allows the creation of instant connections between the reader and his audience, as well as the consolidation of emotional relationships, such as that between parents and children.
