Inspection carried out on an agricultural company: nine workers found without protective equipment and in some cases residence permits

He exploits illegal agricultural workers in the area on his company, making them housed in precarious conditions near the company. With these accusations, an agricultural entrepreneur in Vittoria was reported to the Judicial Authority. The crimes in question are illicit intermediation, labor exploitation and employment of Bangladeshi citizens: as many as eight without a residence permit. This is the outcome of services to combat gangmastering with checks on farms in the Ragusa area. In one of these, in the Resinè agro di Vittoria district, 9 workers were found busy harvesting vegetables without personal protective equipment and therefore gloves and safety shoes. Furthermore, approximately 50 meters from the company, the presence of a structure used as accommodation for workers in precarious and degrading health and hygiene conditions was ascertained. The inspection was carried out by agents from the Flying Squad and from the Vittoria police station. Also on site were the staff in charge of the “Living environment hygiene service” and the “Work environment prevention and safety service” of the ASP of Ragusa. An investigation was launched supported by the declarations of the foreign workers themselves. The entrepreneur was reported.
