Campania, Ferrante (MIT): “27 million for museums, Government invests in culture”

“Enhancing our cultural heritage, financing the redevelopment and restoration of artistic, archaeological and museum resources, is the key to revitalizing the area. With the draft decree approved in the Unified Conference, and presented by Minister Sangiuliano, we have allocated 27 million euros in favor of Campania, more than half of the total foreseen for the South. Important resources, which will allow the implementation of massive interventions for the protection of assets and sites of exceptional cultural interest. The Government shows that it wants to invest in culture as a driving force for the development of Campania”.

This was stated by the Undersecretary of State at MIT, Tullio Ferrante.

“The interventions financed with the provision – goes on – concern various places in our territory which represent not only central hubs of the artistic and cultural offering of our region, but also true treasures of history and national identity. In particular, for the Naples area, 4 million euros are foreseen for the former ANM ‘Polar Star’ depot and for the preparation of the Archeolab, another 4 million for the National Museum of Books and Reading, 10 million euros for the recovery of the ‘Monte di Pieta’ complex and 1 million for the Villa ‘La Colombaia’ by Luchino Visconti.

Furthermore, 4 million are allocated for the ecclesiastical complex of the historic center of Sant’Agata de’ Goti (BN), 2 million for the adaptation of the Sannio Museum in Benevento and, finally, another 2 million euros for the Roman Villa and the Archaeological Museum of Positano. These are interventions that will return to the country historical sites, museums and artistic assets of extraordinary value in all their beauty, thus promoting the attractiveness of our territory.

It is sad to note that the Campania Region voted against this measure, confirming the lack of attention of governor De Luca and the left towards culture. A position that is the result of a political prejudice that has the sole result of harming citizens. We – concludes Ferrante – we will continue to work to enhance the resources, to protect the cultural heritage and to promote the economic and social growth of the territory”
