Stop at the Gran Sasso cable car: in L’Aquila the Democratic Party asks for clarification

The stop at the Gran Sasso cable car to change the ropes will stop the lift for at least a year. The Democratic Party asks the Municipality of L’Aquila for clarification

In particular, the dem councilors ask the Municipality what actions it intends to take to protect the workers of the Gran Sasso tourist center, an already loss-making company, and confirm the request for resignation of the administrator Pignatelli.

At the press conference, the secretary Nello Avellani, the municipal councilors Stefano Albano and Stefania Pezzopane and the regional councilor Pierpaolo Pietrucci announced that they will shortly convene a public meeting with the operators of the tourist centre, also inviting the Municipality. The objective is to involve the city in the debate.

On that occasion, the replacement of the system with a new infrastructure will also be proposed, more modern and capable of bringing more people to high altitude and deseasonalizing the station.

According to the Democratic Party, the measures put in place by the Municipality, such as the shuttle that allows you to reach Campo Imperatore by bus, only serve to put “colour” on a dramatic situation. Furthermore, the councilors said that, given the numbers, it would be an initiative of limited success.

An extraordinary municipal council will be convened on the topic at the end of May, but a commission will soon also meet to find out the current state of the Gran Sasso Tourist Center company, including its financial one, and the prospects.
