Listen to understand how to intervene on problems in the school system

Last October – at the instigation of Team K councilor Alex Ploner – a hearing of primary and secondary school teachers was held in the Provincial Council, in which the situation of integration staff was also discussed. Next Monday, Alex Ploner will address the First Legislative Committee’s request for an additional hearing for preschool, secondary and vocational school teachers.
Alex Ploner requested a further hearing on schools to offer the Provincial Council a finally complete overview of the numerous problems affecting schools and their staff. Furthermore, problems have already been raised during the last legislature, through initiatives such as “Schule in Not” and feedback from the schools themselves.
“Pedagogists, teachers and staff in general are the heart of our schools. They accompany our children and teenagers for many hours with passion and commitment during one of the most important phases of their development and often even become their ‘psychologists’ and even friends. The first hearing last October presented an at times very worrying scenario, which must be addressed as soon as possible. Politics must create conditions that guarantee the best possible working and learning conditions, starting from the immediate start of negotiations on the collective agreement and a team working table that reflects on the future of education and develops models for the challenges of the future”asks Alex Ploner.
In kindergartens and schools in South Tyrol the situation is often very difficult, as Ploner knows from the numerous meetings he has had with school staff, including non-teaching staff, who are often forgotten. Schools are not a lobby…
“Education and training concern us all. I therefore think it is important to listen to the teachers of those school areas who were not able to have their say last October. I also think it is important that the transcripts of the hearings are made available to all members of the Provincial Council, so that everyone knows what is happening and that the majority and the opposition can work together to improve our education system.”concluded Alex Ploner.
