The 2024 Giro d’Italia continues today with the third stage which from Novara leads to Fossano (in the province of Cuneo), in a 166 km long section, with a route that winds entirely through the Piedmont territory. It could be a great opportunity for sprinters but watch out for some escapes from afar. Yesterday the stage that went from San Francesco al Campo to the Sanctuary of Oropa was won by Tadej Pogacar who also won the pink jersey.
The third stage
The stage has a flat route, with some small ups and downs in the central part. The short climb to Lu is one of the few rough spots of the day. The finale is characterized by the Cherasco climb up to the last short climb that leads to Fossano. The last 3 km are practically straight with a single sharp bend 1300 m from the finish. The stretch from -4.5 km to -3 km constantly rises to 5%.
