Siena square is already in the sights of the FISE Sicily Regional Committee which today, Sunday 5 May, has identified on the fields of the Adim of Augusta the two Sicilian teams that will represent the region in the President’s Cups of show jumping reserved for horses and ponies. The two races will take place from 23 to 26 May on the occasion of the traditional CSIO of Rome Piazza di Siena – Master d’Inzeo, which for four whole days will see equestrian sports at the center of attention in the beautiful Villa Borghese in Rome. There President’s Cup it is one of the most heartfelt team competitions of the year, reserved for the youth sector, in which representatives of each regional committee of the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation compete at the Roman event.
CAVALLI PRESIDENT’S CUP – At the end of the three selection stages (and nine days of competition), of which the last was that of the Adim of Augusta (after Segesta and Pozzallo), the ones who gained a pass for the horse team were: the Syracuse Elisabetta Guastella on Mazelle Van’t Prinsenvelt (Equitazione Siracusana Asd; instructor Giancarlo Guastella), from Catania Giovanni Strazzeri (La Quercia del Duca; instructor Dario Cutrufo) up Gady, the Palermo one Melania Milazzo on Fhera (Asd Sporting Wolf; instructor Roberto Miceli), the Mazarese Silvia Tantillo on Maxsum (CI Akros; instructor Luciano Leone) and the other from Syracuse Sara Sangregorio(CE Aretuseo; instruct. Marcello Ortisi) on Punishment Om.
The boys under the orders of the team leader Bruno Nasisi they are called to an arduous task after the second place achieved in the 2023 President’s Cup and the historic victory achieved (30 years after the last one) in 2022.
PRESIDENT’S CUP PONY – The Adim fields of Augusta have also decreed the names of the members of the island team that will take part in the President’s Cup reserved for ponies. The identification of the five pairs, unlike the horse team, however, took place on the basis of a vision by the Regional Committee and in particular by the Show Jumping Department.
The team is made up of the youngest, but certainly very fierce athletes, always under the orders of the team leader Bruno Nasisi, they will be: the Catania girls and team mates at the CI del Castello (trainer Paolo Toscano) Marta Catania on Soraia and Sofia Anna Bruno on Trosca de la Roche; the Syracusans of the Syracuse Horse Society Sofia Elena Fontana (instructor Valerio Contarini) e Flavio Giudice (instructor Fabio D’Aquila) and the Palermo player from CI Pietra dei Fiori Flavio Campanella on Pablo (instructor Ernesto Marchioli), not present in Augusta, because he was competing in the CSIO in Linz in Austria this weekend.

I told the boys first of all to have fun and to joyfully experience this great opportunity they have in their competitive career, because I believe we should start from here. At the same time – added Parziano – I am sure that each of them will give their best to achieve the objectives to which our kids have accustomed us in recent years. When you win it is always difficult to match the results of the previous year, but our young athletes can count on highly qualified technicians. I am sure that this year too we will have the opportunity to once again write a good performance in the annals of Sicilian equestrian sports.”
GRAND PRIX – If the Augusta event was important for the definition of the young teams for the key event of the Roman May, in the meantime in Augusta there was no lack of spectacle, thanks to the highly anticipated two-heat Grand Prix, test with high obstacles 1 , 45 metres, in which 19 pairs took part. The rider from Messina won the race Rosario Briguglio (CI Equestrian Asd) riding Lena. No clear doubles on the course designed by course director Giancarlo D’Aquila, but Briguglio and Lena, after the clear in the first heat, finished with 4 total penalties and a time of 47”25. Same penalty calculation (0/4), but time of 50″11 for the second place: Fabio D’Aquila (Equestrianism Siracusana Asd) riding Chaquano Ps. Third place for Catania Elisabetta Vacirca (CI Valverde) on This Knigs Night Zk Z, also with the same penalties (0/4), but with a time of 55″19.
