Forlì, 6 May 2024 – A great I embrace what the dem people have reserved Elly Schlein for their national secretary at the end of the Festa dell’Unità in Vecchiazzano last night, with 7-800 people present. Schlein herself affectionately greeted Graziano Rinaldini, candidate for mayor of Forlì for the centre-left.
Once on stage, after greeting many militants, it was the territorial secretary, Gessica Allegni, who introduced the special guest, invited “to help bring good governance back to this city which has stopped in recent years”. On stage, next to Rinaldini, there was the regional secretary Luigi Tosiani, the municipal secretary Michele Valli (who is also at the top of the list), and all the candidate councilors around.
«The 8th and June 9th will be a choice of field – harangued Allegni – a cross for those who were close during the flood or for those who came to promise 100% compensation that no one has yet seen. A commitment, that of the party, ” which materializes in the figure of Graziano Rinaldini – added Tosiani –. In recent years Forlì has been an increasingly lonely city, with fewer opportunities, it has not spoken to others”. Asking the current mayor Zattini what he thinks “of Vannacci’s words, of the presence of an anti-vax as second on the list at Europeans, right behind the Prime Minister. We haven’t heard a word from the mayor about this.”
The stage then it was from Rinaldini, who recalled the presentation of the program the day before: “A book of dreams, certainly – he began –, but we know how to dream and make dreams come true, they don’t. Among these dreams is that of a concrete plan against pollution given that Forlì is the eighth most polluted city in Italy”.
He took Finally, secretary Schlein spoke and first of all thanked the many present and the volunteers who liven up the party (an inevitable greeting in the kitchen at the end). “Support for a nice person – she says, grabbing Rinaldini’s arm – who has done so much for his city and who will be able to bring back good governance after sad years of right-wing government”. Then the relaunch on the minimum wage, social justice, universal public healthcare: “A topic on which our regional president, Stefano Bonaccini, has always kept the bar straight”. Remembering how the law on regional caregivers was proposed by the Democratic Party also at national level as a good example to follow.
Everyone the interventions were underlined, in the fundamental aspects, by strong applause from the audience, especially when the secretary recalled the help of the third sector, of the voluntary sector, during the pandemic, and the “not retreating in the face of the attempt to diminish the rights of women, such as that of abortion”. If there were many hugs upon arrival, just as many were the photos requested when leaving again, without ever denying themselves. With a bouquet of flowers with him: it was Rinaldini’s gift for his birthday, celebrated on Saturday.
At the party there were also CGIL volunteers, collecting signatures for the referendum on the abolition of the Jobs Act. Schlein herself then announced, right in Vecchiazzano, that she wanted to sign it.
Yesterday the secretary visited other places in Romagna. Starting from Fosso Ghiaia, in the Ravenna area: a surprise visit to a lunch organized by the Democratic Party, in the company of the mayoral candidates of the administrative session in the province of Ravenna. Then stop at the Cervia salt pans, to see the situation about a year after the flood. Finally, she was also in Roncofreddo, in the Cesenate area.
