A fruitful meeting was held at San Felice del Molise on May 3rd for the launch and promotion of the project on language desks approved by Ministry of Regional Affairsfor the financial year 2022

The mayors of the 4 municipalities participated in the launch of the new project which began on April 26th, Corrado Sala of San Felice, leader, Francesco Trolio of Acquaviva Collecroce, Sergio Sammartino of Montemitro e Paolo Cirulli of Tavenna. With them the team of language desk operators, true safeguards of the territory for the promotion and protection of the Molise Croatian language, added value of the regional cultural heritage which is widely recognized by national law 482 of 1999 and which together with the Arbёresh linguistic heritagesuffers from indifference on the part of the Molise region.

” Despite having been among the first Italian regions to enact the regional law, specifically number 15 of 1997, Protection and enhancement of Linguistic Minorities pursuant to art. 8 paragraph c ex art. 4 of its Statute, for several years the Molise Region, which has spent a lot of money on culture, has no longer financed this law, failing to comply with a legal duty which undermines the right of communities to preserve their linguistic heritage which has been handed down for a generation to another over the centuries, it is in serious danger of extinction.

The regional law as articulated, if financed, would represent a breath of fresh air for the municipalities which in turn allow local associations and actors to promote various initiatives for the dissemination of cultural heritage. Musical concerts, literary reviews, language courses, creation of games, recovery of oral memory and revival of ancient traditions which would be added to the purely institutional activities for which the language desk staff are responsible, whose commitment, as per the norm, takes care of relations between citizens and public administration. “

This was stated by the professor. Fernanda Pugliese who as a historian of Linguistic Minorities and driving force of the same through the activities of the association Kamastra magazine of which she was the creator and founder, for over 30 years she has been committed on all fronts to the defense of the Molise linguistic heritage on a large scale, mindful of past times when regional politics was more lively and active with respect to the needs of all the municipalities of the Molise for whom the resources, albeit minimal, conferred with the laws on culture, gave a minimum breathing space to small towns in general.

The observation on the budget forecast made by the lead mayors such as Manes and Trolio is important, as reported by the mayor of Acquaviva Collecroce himself who noted the total lack of attention to Linguistic Minorities in the drafting of the Regional Budget.
The valorization of linguistic diversity in a sustainable society system was the topic addressed by the speaker Antonello Barone, creator of the Festival del Sara – Dialogues on the future.

An examination that foresees and calls for attention of great responsibility and where respect for intercultural dialogue overcomes the barriers of hatred between peoples who today urgently spread the politics of hostility with all the brutal consequences. An in-depth study and a very direct reflection by Dr. Baron who calls into question attitudes and policies of openness to overcome resentments and mistrust that lead to violence.

The Honorable Member’s speech was also very interesting Giovanni Di Stasi whose foresight supported by the counterpart politics, was able to propose a cooperation project between different peoples, laying the foundations for the establishment of a consultation table between the Adriatic regions aimed at the establishment of the future Adriatic Euro-region in Termoli in 2004.

A lively afternoon with short but important interventions and the presentation of the trailer on the cultural product created in the places by the working group Molise Waw and which closed the previous project referring to the 2021 financial year, leaving the doors open to new activities under state responsibility.
