Improve skills in the most advanced endoscopic techniques in the urological field it is one of the objectives of the course “Endourology Course Hands-on: State of the Art Looking at the Future”, which will take place at the “Paolo Borsellino” hospital in Marsala on 9 and 10 May. The course, created by Emanuele Caldarera, director of the hospital’s Urology Complex Operational Unit, in collaboration with the Urology Specialization Schools of the Universities of Messina and Catania, directed respectively by Vincenzo Ficarra and Sebastiano Cimino, is aimed at recent residents years with the aim of studying the most commonly used endoscopic techniques on the upper urinary excretory route, with particular reference to the treatment of urinary stones.
During the event, in addition to an in-depth section on the most innovative methods in the endourological field, the possibility of using a digital intervention simulator, the latest Israeli-made invention, is envisaged. The course will end with a surgery section during which it will be possible to witness live two simultaneous operations in the operating rooms of the “Paolo Borsellino” hospital: while Caldarera will perform a robot-assisted flexible ureterorenolithorrhyxy, followed by a nephrolithotripsy with mini access -percutuneo, at the same time, the French surgeon Olivier Traxer, professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris and one of the world’s leading experts in urinary lithiasis, will perform two flexible ureterorenolitripsy operations.
