“I am a fascist and son of Mussolini”. Pavia, punches in the face of two exponents of the Italian Left

The Italian Left denounces a “fascist attack” which occurred yesterday afternoon in Pavia against two of its representatives. In a note the party denounces that at 5pm near Piazza Cavagneria, in the historic center of Pavia, “the provincial secretary of Sinistra Italiana Pavia, Luca Testoni, and Lorenzo Colombo, secretary in Varese, were attacked by two passers-by, the first of who, by rejecting an electoral leaflet, defined himself as a fascist and ‘son of Mussolini’. The second, with a punch in the face, then hit Colombo, knocking off the glasses he was wearing”.

Luca Testoni, 27 years old, is a candidate in the next municipal elections in early June in Pavia and was campaigning. A meeting with the candidate for the European Parliament Giovanni Mori was also scheduled shortly afterwards in Pavia.

The two, in their fifties, left followed by Colombo who “peacefully” asked for their details to report them. “At the request, one of the two hit Colombo and then Testoni in the face again, while the latter was on the phone to have the police intervene – they explain from Si -. The two fascists then fled towards Piazza Duomo” .

The two Sinistra Italiana militants were taken to the emergency room of San Matteo in Pavia with wounds that could be healed in a few days. The two attackers were photographed and the images entrusted to the police who arrived on site.

“It is unacceptable – Sinistra Italiana Pavia underlines in the note – that in the city, for the umpteenth time, there are fascists circulating undisturbed who feel authorized to use violence on anyone without any reason. It is unacceptable that the electoral campaign takes place in a climate of violence such as to prevent free citizens and party militants from carrying out their political activities in safety. The Pavia right has for years made propaganda about the safety of the city. This episode, added to the previous ones, like that of the mayoral candidate the other day center-left Michele Lissia who stopped a thief, demonstrates the total failure of the outgoing administration and of the Trivi councilor, capable only of mocking political opponents for their stance against tasers”.
