The whole season is decided in the last 90 minutes. Piacenza Calcio plays the final match of the Serie D championship season in Venegono Superiore, at the home of Varesina. Not a very soft opponent, who occupies fifth position in the standings with 67 points. Piacenza has 73 points, one less than Caldiero Terme, who are playing at the same time at Villa d’Almè against Villa Valle. The red and whites missed the opportunity to be masters of their own destiny right at the end of last Sunday’s match, when the ten-man Caldiero managed to score the winning goal in the 94th minute. And therefore in Venegono Superiore it is necessary to win, but Rossini’s men need it that Caldiero scores a maximum of one point in Bergamo to finish in first place and fly directly to Serie C. Otherwise, a new phase of the season will open for the red and whites, that of playoffs, with a better position in the ranking for possible repechages at stake. If, however, the two teams finished on equal points (Piacenza drew and Caldiero lost at the same time) promotion would be decided with a one-off play-off. The underdogs – even if this championship has already reserved several surprises – are on the side of Caldiero, who face a Villa Valle without particular objectives, while Piace will face a team called to defend their playoff position. It will therefore not be an easy task for the red and whites, who will inevitably play with an ear also turned to the match of their direct opponents as already happened last Sunday, when the decisive goal in full injury time by the Venetian team against Virtus Ciserano froze Garilli. On the Venegono Superiore field 700 red and white fans are expected: the first 450 tickets went up in smoke in a few hours, another 250 went on sale later.
Rossini he will face the match that could be worth an entire season without the disqualified Marquez, with Recino ready to return from the first minute. Gerbaudo returns to midfield after the stoppage inflicted by the sports judge, for the rest – with the exception of the injured Andreoli and Iob – there are no particular training problems. “The team is excited and serene – the words of the red and white coach on the eve of the match -, we know that we will face a strong team with an important offensive potential that has a very high finishing percentage. In the first leg at Garilli it ended 1-1: the guests took the lead in the first half with Vitale, the red and white equalized in the second half thanks to Ndoye.
