Viterbo – We receive and publish – “There is no critical issue in the management of the municipal budget. Significant resources are being invested to restart a city that has been stagnant for too long.” This was stated by the municipal budget councilor Elena Angiani, responding to the criticisms made by the municipal councilor Andrea Micci (Lega), according to which the 2023 management report would have closed at a loss.
“It is absolutely incorrect to claim that the 2023 management report closed in the negative: as of 31/12 there was an administration surplus of over 109 million euros, of which less than 3.5 million were free resources not committed – explains councilor Angiani -. These are data that have a dual meaning: on the one hand, as certified by the positive opinion expressed by the board of auditors, the financial situation of the Municipality is absolutely under control, on the other hand there is an important action by the administration in investing resources to restart a city that has been stagnant for too long, a city that needed an economic and image relaunch.
We have invested significant sums in events such as Santa Rosa and Christmas, but also in schools, with funds for maintenance, in the social sector for home care for the elderly, for the reception of minors in family homes and for all those items that must represent the primary concern of an inclusive society attentive to the needs of vulnerable people. Perhaps councilor Andrea Micci, when he states that 2023 ended with a negative sign, confuses the financial account with the economic one: the latter in fact represents a mere algebraic sum between the sums collected and those spent from January 1st to December 31st and not takes into account, for example, the application of the surplus nor the residuals.
We are aware – adds and concludes councilor Angiani – and we also said it in the City Council, of the fact that it is necessary to improve the phase of assessment and collection of credits, but the economic result, despite being an element to reflect on, is not it is certainly a critical element that, to date, should concern us more than necessary, if not with a view to increasing revenue through a series of measures that we are implementing”.
