As Potere al Popolo we intend to participate in the next Piedmontese regional elections on 8-9 June, within the Piemonte Popolare list.
The idea of this political proposal is very simple: to bring into this electoral round an alternative voice both to the right of the outgoing Cirio council and to the false opposition of PD, Sinistra Ecologista and 5 Star. An alternative voice to the war economy, to the TAV and to the complicity of our institutions with the genocide carried out by Israel in Palestine.
We want to carry forward a political proposal that puts the needs of the working classes back at the centre, through a program of public investments in healthcare, housing and work policies, public transport and environmental protection.
Due to the ambiguities in the interpretation of the Piedmontese electoral law, although we believe we have full right to do so, we are not currently certain that we will be allowed to present the list. For this region, as a list we are collecting signatures throughout the region, despite the threshold being very high in such a short time.
As usual, a truly alternative proposal that is foreign to the hegemonic political groups in the country encounters great difficulties even just being able to participate.
For this reason, today at the signature collection banquet at the Balon we reiterated how, in addition to collecting signatures, we will fight to defend our right to present ourselves. It’s a question of democracy!
