Over 400 hours of sporting activity for pupils and students of Bitonto and surrounding areas with the Experimental Project “YES – Sport and Inclusion… at School”.

Involving educational institutions from primary to secondary school, the project – today at the heart of its activities – involves the network involvement of the Associations ASD and C Graduates in Movement, ELOS Paralympic Sports Club, ASD Volleyball, A. Dil. Sporting Clubof the Schools ITES Vitale Giordano – lead school -, IISS Volta-De Gemmis, IC Sylos, IC Cassano/De Renzio, IC Modugno/Rutigliano/Rogadeo, CD Fornelliwith the patronage of the municipal administration of Bitonto.

The programming aims to offer the opportunity to pupils and students with disabilities together with their normal friends/classmates, to try and practice sports activities for free in a transversal and multidisciplinary way, in an inclusive and continuous environment where pupils and students can grow, learn and get rich together.

The sporting activities proposed in the context of the project include table football, volleyball, basketball and football, offering students a wide range of options to express themselves and develop their skills. The participation of CIP Puglia, Of Sport and Health Spa, CSAin, CSI, CESN, FPICB Italia, FISDIR Pugliahas further enriched the student experience, offering them the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and broaden their perspectives, focusing on sporting continuity and accessibility for all students, regardless of their abilities or background.

The objective, explain the actors of the intervention, is to guarantee from the first years of schooling adequate adherence to the values ​​and ethical norms of sport, its psycho-physical benefits and its intrinsic inclusive nature, guided by technicians with a Paralympic qualification and a degree in physical activity and sports sciences and people who normally gravitate towards the person with disabilities at school. As a completion of the project, the contribution made in sharing intentions with territorial realities innervated in the social sector such as the Polisportiva Amici di Marco, ASD H Bari 2003, The window on the Blue, The Anti-Violence Center “I am mine”.

An innovative pilot project which, in its first weeks of activity, showed great potential value, thanks to the collaboration of the school managers of the institutions involved, the teachers, the professional technicians and the families of the users involved. To close the intervention, at the end of May, a final evaluation party shared with each of the actors who took part in this revolution of sport in schools, with the aim of sharing the path with a continuous and territorial development perspective.
