Gussago, Under 10 champions and almost a double. Conte: “It’s the victory of the club and of a quality project”
“It’s beautiful, because this victory crowns a journey in which all of us at Gussago truly believe. There is so much satisfaction and joy for these children, who deserve the trophy. They have done 80 training sessions this year, also taking part in optional ones and double weekend commitments.”
Stefano Conte, coach of the 2014 red and white team is beaming. His team raises the Brescia Cup in the Under 10 category to the skies after winning the title one day early out of the 7 played. At the Comunale di Palazzolo the Franciacortas are the protagonists of an overwhelming journey: 17 goals scored and only 3 conceded, with a clean sheet in the first 4 matches. “After a few seasons in which we came close, we made it. Together with our coordinator Francesco Tarana we have always put the game first, looking for a proposal that was educational, characterized by quality and intensity, proposing concepts of a certain type. Ours is teamwork. Combining all this with the ability to be competitive in every category and, like today, to impose ourselves, is fantastic.”
Gussago was also a protagonist in the stands, with an organized fan base and a hymn that accompanied the boys on their ride: “We thank Francesco and Roberta, parents and musicians who created this song together with the children. It’s nice to go beyond the field. We really are a big family, there is unity between all the teams and consequently also between the parents.”
Some special dedications cannot be missed: “My thoughts go to all those who have coached with me in recent years, like Simone and Andrea, who now coaches the 2013 team and has always supported me and told me the truth, without hiding the mistakes I made. He would have deserved the trophy too. It’s really a shame. I dedicate this satisfaction to my mother, who has put up with me for thirty years with this football thing. Similar speech for the woman I love, Elena, who has to be patient a lot because football keeps me six days a week, then all of Gussago Calcio. A lot of us have won this Brescia Cup.”
Also on the provincial Cup podium was an excellent Palazzolo, just one point away from the champions and capable of beating him in the direct clash. An important statement also for Concesio, bronze medal in the category, but it was a highly educational day for all the teams and individual children who took to the field.
