Green light for the demolition of the “F body” of the hospital, now old and dilapidated

ROVIGO – Announced for months, now the plan for the demolition of an old and dilapidated one wing of the hospital of viale Tre martiri is reality. That is to say that brick part that can be seen from the access road, which is located to the right of the main entrance.

The general director ofUlss 5, Pietro Girardi, has adopted the definitive measure for the demolition of block F of the city hospital, launching the tender for the assignment of the work. The expected economic framework is 915 thousand euros and the demolition site is expected for September. The intervention is part of the larger investment program approved by the regional council in the 2020-2029 framework which concerns, in fact, the building works aimed at the construction and technological adaptations of the health structures connected to the regional planning, the hygienic-sanitary safety adjustments, as well as seismic and fire prevention.
In this panorama, the capital’s hospital is currently carrying out the first phase of the project which focuses on the seismic and fire prevention adaptation of block M and the demolition of block F. An operation with a total value of almost 30 million euros.

THE PROJECT
The work, as mentioned, involves the demolition of body F and the connection structure with body M, as well as the sectioning of the plant backbones coming from body M, the conservative dismantling and reassembly of the panoramic lift in correspondence with the auditorium and the related masonry works, carried out based on a project by the Technical Office of the Ulss itself. A new large air conditioner will also be installed to serve the Morgue (which is currently located in block F itself), the remediation of the asbestos present in the floor which is in fact vinyl-asbestos on the ground floor and of any hidden dangerous materials which will be verified before of demolition operations. After the demolition, the remaining site of the F block will be renovated and transformed into a new internal road system for the hospital.
Block F, which as written is in a seriously degraded condition, was built in the 70s and for this reason it is not only old and has significant structural problems, but is also inadequate for modern healthcare and for this reason it was deemed more convenient to demolish the wing and develop other parts of the hospital, rather than committing resources to this portion.

The building, technological and plant adaptation of a hospital goes hand in hand with the modernization of equipment and the implementation of services: all together they allow the improvement of the well-being of all those who frequent the facility, be they employees, patients or family members ».
