Forlì, 5 May 2024 – Seventy minutes of accusations, reflections, memories and anecdotes, stimulated by questions from Agnese Pinidirector of Carlino and the National Newspaper. Stefano Bonaccini he receives convinced applause from the people of the Democratic Party, at the rediscovery Vecchiazzano Unity Festivalwhere today the national secretary Elly Schlein will be the protagonist.
President of the Emilia-Romagna region, in the electoral campaign in view of the next European elections (he is the leader of the Dems in the North-East constituency which also includes our land), has addressed various issues with his direct style: from the winds of war blowing in Europe, to the strong criticism of the League and the government of Giorgia Meloni, passing through the divisions within the Democratic Party, the recent April 25th and the support for Graziano Rinaldini, mayoral candidate of the center-left coalition in the city administrative elections of June 8th and 9th.
Five Years ago Bonaccini’s opponent was Matteo Salvini, today however he is the general Vannacci: “His outbursts are making our electoral campaign easier. From his words it is clear that we are the opposite of them with a completely different idea of society. Did he say that Mussolini was a statesman? Well I say he should be ashamed” .
After ten years at the helm of Emilia-Romagna Bonaccini is headed to Europe, not an easy farewell: “It was an honor for me to have served Emilia-Romagna because there are people from Emilia-Romagna who are citizens who make the difference. In recent years we have shown that it is not true that nothing works and I say that if Europe, but also Italy, resembled our region it would only be a good thing.” On the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Bonaccini does not hesitate: “We are with Kiev and not with Russia, but Europe must have an impact on political mediation. I had shivers down my spine when I saw the Iranian drones headed towards Israel, just one wrong move is enough to make us fall to where we would never want to return.”
Bonaccini he is not kind to the 5 Stars and with the divisions within his party: “It is clear that the Democratic Party alone cannot win, but it is equally clear that without the Democratic Party the right cannot be defeated. Where does Giuseppe Conte want to go? Our people can’t take it anymore of all divisions and sometimes, more than due to the strength of others, we have lost due to our own internal divisions”. And he proposes “a common program in view of the next political elections. Let’s unite on what interests citizens such as the impoverishment of public health”.
Launched from ‘Bella Ciao’ and from the projects presented by Graziano Rinaldini, the evening with the regional president could not fail to touch on the theme of April 25th: “Meloni is not fascist and if we tell her so we will give her votes. But I believe there is the risk of an authoritarian twist in the country, as the occupation of places of power and the hypothetical reform of the premiership which would aim to remove powers from a guarantor and esteemed figure such as our President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella suggest. It is not good.”
