Being president of a team is a job of great responsibility, even more so if you are president of Apu Udine. Expectations are high and the Bianconeri want to amaze and convince everyone in these playoffs. After a few seasons in which they came close, the Friulians will now try to raise the level again to obtain promotion to A1. With his frank character and his palpable passion for the game, president Alessandro Pedone analyzed the strategies and hopes that animate Apu Udine in this exciting final phase of the season, before the ball begins to bounce and Carnera resonates of applause and shouts.
President, here we are! The playoffs have arrived: do you feel ready for the big leap?
It is a goal that we have been pursuing for years, the two finals are proof of this. Despite the ailments of the last few months we are ready for the season finale which I am sure will see us as protagonists.
How do you rate the season so far? Can Udine be considered one of the big favourites?
Last summer the club started a new course, changing the technical staff and ten twelfths on the roster. We finished third in the group and in my opinion we would have grabbed second place without the injuries to Clark and Caroti.
The company has invested a lot in building a competitive roster with contracts longer than just one year: is the goal to build a long-term project with these players and staff?
Absolutely yes, the APU works long-term in all areas, from mini-basketball to youth teams and the first team. With Coach Vertemati and DS Gracis we have built a solid group of men rather than players, with a distant horizon.
Has Vertemati, despite his young age, confirmed himself as the coach of the future given this year’s results?
He is young by birth but has a long experience on the bench. I have followed him for many years and I am happy that he has embraced our cause.
Is the always full arena the answer you were looking for for Carnera 4.0?
The full building is the litmus postcard of our project. Although last season did not end as hoped, we have had an extraordinary response from the public since the summer season ticket campaign. Carnera 4.0 is a project in which we have invested many economic resources and I am sure that it will bring prestige to the city of Udine, projecting it into a national and European context.
