It was approved this week by the general director of Ulss 5 Polesana, Pietro Girardi, the definitive demolition measure of block F of the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital and the start of the tender process for the awarding of the works.

The economic framework of the great work is 915 thousand euros (VAT included). The demolition, whose construction site should start in September this year, is part of the framework of interventions and related investments approved by the Veneto Regional Council in the “Extraordinary program of investments in healthcare for healthcare building works of regional interest” scheduled for decade 2020-2029 inherent, in fact, to interventions of building and technological adaptation of healthcare facilities connected to regional planning, sanitary safety adjustments, seismic and fire prevention adaptation.

The first phase of the project, phase 1A, is underway for the civil hospital of Rovigo. which involves the seismic and fire prevention adaptation of block M and the demolition of block F. An operation with a total value of almost 30 million euros.

Specifically, the work involves the following works: the demolition of body F and the connection structure with body M; the sectioning of the plant backbones coming from the M body; the conservative dismantling and reassembly of the panoramic lift in correspondence with the auditorium and related masonry works, carried out according to a project by the Ulss Technical Office, at its care and expense; the installation of a new large air conditioner serving the Morgue (currently present in block F); the remediation of asbestos present in the vinyl-asbestos flooring on the ground floor and of any hidden dangerous materials which will be checked before the demolition operations; the backfilling of the sediment of body F and the construction of a new road system. The reason for the demolition is simple: block F, built in the 1970s, is today not very functional and old, with the need for interventions which have led to the choice of decommissioning.

“The seismic adaptation and modernization of hospital structures is a fundamental program which aims to make our hospitals safe, renovated, accessible and increasingly welcoming for the population – intervenes the General Director, Pietro Girardi – The demolition of Body F is due to its age, while for the rest of the structure there are plans or have already been implemented, modernization works and seismic and fire prevention adjustments. The building, technological and plant adaptation of a hospital goes hand in hand with the modernization of equipment and the implementation of services: all together they allow the improvement of the well-being of all those who frequent the structure, be they employees, patients or family members ”.
