Lidi Bari, season ticket boom: “No glass and events”

Although this year too at the mercy of the whims of the climate, the Apulian beaches are preparing to restart for a new summer, with cutting-edge services, gourmet culinary proposals, night-time events and with an eye to eco-sustainability. “We are reopening on the weekends of May to be reborn thanks to spring,” the managers of MamaLuna Beach explain to Telebari, “but officially the season starts on June 1st and ends on September 15th. The enthusiasm and desire to get out and start again can be seen from the many requests and phone calls we have.” There subscription campaign of MamaLuna, which began in February and is about to end, saw a slight increase in prices, and also a slight increase in subscribers.

Price list unchanged however for other structures such as Macramè, Santos and Lido Massimo. “We decided to maintain the same cost policy despite having suffered an increase in the cost of ancillary services,” Giancarlo Basile of Macramè tells us, “and with subscriptions so far we have seen a growth of 30 percent. Unfortunately this year we were unable to complete the initiatives scheduled for April 25th and May 1st, due to weather conditions. However, our summer season will be very extended, we want to meet tourist needs, also because we have noticed that the months of May and October, which are often overlooked, actually attract a segment of vacationers. Suffice it to say that last year we closed theOctober 8and there was a great turnout.”

There also seems to be great demand in the Torre Canne area, and in fact, as Fabrizio Santorsola, manager of the Santos lido and president of Fiba Puglia, confirms, online sales are going very well, with a large number of requests and quotes. “It promises to be an excellent season, we’ll start again next week,” underlines Santorsola, “the climate is a big unknown, but it seems to have stabilized. Last June we had terrible weather conditions.” What emerges from the first glimmers of this 2024 Apulian summer is that the operators certainly pay great attention to eco-sustainability: only fresh water for the showers, no glass (as required by the regional ordinance), use of compostable, natural or washable materials. And there could be something new even for those who regretted the packed lunch brought from home, which until last year was strictly prohibited inside bathing establishments: it will in fact be possible to bring in food from outside, but as specified by MamaLuna, “it can only be consumed on the beach, which is state property, not in the perimeter of the structure because it is private land”.
