Corrado Pellanera, basketball legend, has passed away in Bologna at the age of 86. Born in San Nicolò a Tordino, Pellaneta played as a guard in Serie A1 for fifteen years, in Virtus Bologna. 187 cm tall, ideal weight was 81 kg, he was a very talented athlete. In the period from June to December 2011 he was president of Teramo Basket in Serie A following the change in management of the Abruzzo team.

The story: He began playing encouraged by his older brothers, in Serie B with D’Alessandro Teramo. Player from 1958 to 1981, he began his professional career at Virtus Bologna where he remained for ten years (245 appearances). Then the move to Snaidero Udine for a season before returning to Bologna, Fortitudo side, where he played for four seasons in the four-year period 1969/1973, scoring 406 points in 87 games. Also a protagonist with the national team, with which he recorded 107 appearances and 582 points. He participated in the Olympics in 1964 in Tokyo and in 1968 in Mexico City, in the World Cup in 1963 in Brazil and in 1967 in Uruguay and in the European Championships in 1963 in Poland and 1965 in the Soviet Union. Gold at the Mediterranean Games in 1963 in Naples.
In 1973 he retired, after 15 years of uninterrupted activity in the top category. His strengths were defense and anticipation. In his rebound he made his power and elevation count.

He then coached Pordenone in Serie A2, from 1978 to 1981.

He had returned to Teramo for the centenary of Teramo basketball.
