On Friday 10 May, from 10.30 am, in the Adelaide Di Jeso room of the Presidency Palace of the Puglia Region (Lungomare Nazario Sauro n. 33 – Bari), the 2024 Sustainable Development Festival will host a workshop on Gender budget 2021-2022 of the Puglia Regioncreated by the Regional Section for the implementation of Gender Policies in collaboration with the Ipres Foundation.
The study activity is organized by the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS).
The workshop will be opened by greetings from the Chief of Cabinet of the Puglia Region. This will be followed by interventions by the Section for the implementation of Gender Policies of the Puglia Region and the Ipres Foundation. To conclude, representatives of the State General Accounting Office, of the Office for equal opportunities policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, of the University of Salento and of the consultancy firm Lattanzio KIBS will participate in the round table moderated by the Special Institutional Communication Structure of the Region Puglia.
The Gender Budget of the Puglia Region 2021-2022, approved by the Regional Council on 5 March, is a tool for analysis, planning and control. On the one hand, it fulfills the function of communicating the path undertaken by the regional administration towards achieving gender equity, for the benefit of the transparency of administrative action (accountability); on the other hand, it is aimed at guiding the regional public decision-maker in identifying policy choices and monitoring their implementation status.
The document of the Puglia Region takes up the challenge outlined by the Sustainable Development objective n. 5 of the UN Agenda 2030 and, addressing primarily the Apulian community, sets the following objectives: increase awareness of the impact that regional public policies can have on gender inequalities; ensure greater effectiveness of interventions, through a clear definition of gender objectives to also be taken into consideration when identifying implementation methods; promote greater transparency of public administration, activating mechanisms aimed at avoiding potentially discriminatory practices.
While in continuity with the accountability documents of 2020 and 2018, the Gender Budget of the Puglia Region 2021-2022 marks the beginning of a path of emancipation of gender issues with respect to more general social issues, following the example of the budget gender of the state.
