At a roastery of
Forlivese, the activity was suspended after the NAS carabinieri found an “infestation of lizards and rodents”: to deal with the situation, in several parts of the structure “cardboards sprinkled with mastic as well as piles of poisoned grains had been scattered” .
According to the investigators “managerial and operational methods were identified
now outdated for decades and not suitable for the current one
legislation”, especially regarding “the maintenance of
traceability and traceability of raw materials and
final product”.
The blitz in Forlì by the Bologna NAS carabinieri is part of a larger operation in a series of companies in the coffee production chain. In total, 22 checks were carried out in the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, and Rimini, with over 35 thousand kilos of coffee seized for a value of around 820 thousand euros; issued the suspension of commercial activities for a value of approximately 11 million euros, and carried out administrative sanctions for a total of 28 thousand euros.
