With the encouraging result of over 33 thousand visitors in the first four months of the year, the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto is preparing to experience the next free opening Sunday of MArTA.

Tomorrow, Sunday 5 May, the appointment with returns, the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, which allows free entry, every first Sunday of the month, to museums and state archaeological parks. “It is a good custom that sounds like a celebration, a practice of cultural enjoyment, which we hope will consolidate over time, increasing the numbers of citizens inclined to an ever greater approach to art, culture and archaeology” – says the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, Stella Falzone. And the numbers from January to today confirm the growth trend in attendance within the Taranto museum complex.

“Growth is constant – explains the director, Stella Falzone – but we think there is still ample margin for growth, considering the imminent summer season but also the expansion of the offer, which in recent months sees us working towards the definitive creation of the new exhibition of the permanent collections, and for the awarding of the cafeteria service”. Compared to April 25th, the May Day of the Taranto museum was in decline: from 1,300 attendances it dropped to less than four hundred (387) according to data released by the Ministry of Culture. However, the presence of foreign tourists and the massive participation of schools from all over the region is a solid basis for strengthening the growth of MArTA. The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, tomorrow Sunday 5 May will be open for the whole day from 8.30 to 19.30 (last entry allowed at 19.00).

Entrance is free. On the same day it will also be possible to book paid guided tour activities by the Aditus company, concessionaire for the MArTA added services. To purchase entrance tickets or purchase further guided tours, you can consult the website www.museotaranto.cultura.gov. it and access the “Ticket Office” area
