Germano: “Many people have told us about their Laf buildings”

“Palazzina Laf” by Michele Riondino, a film with a strong civil structure which takes place at the Ilva in Taranto in 1997, obtains the statuette for best leading actor, Riondino himself, for supporting actor Elio Germano, for the song original to Diodato who dedicates the award to “my land and Taranto, a city that suffers”. Elio Germano comments: “We can’t help but fight, Riondino and I, this is a very current film that talks about work, a theme that seems forgotten by cinema today, and of Taranto raped by profit. Many people have told us about their Laf buildings.”

I Captain by Matteo Garrone triumphs at the David di Donatello with seven statuettes including best film and director, which
they add awards for photography, editing, sound, producer and visual effects. Six statuettes for There’s Still Tomorrow by Paola Cortellesi (it was the film with the most nominations, 19): in addition to the already acquired David of the viewer, the leading actress went to Cortellesi, the supporting actress went to Emanuela Fanelli, the best original screenplay, best directorial debut and David Giovani. Michele Riondino best actor for Abducted by Marco Bellocchio. Special award and standing ovation for Vincenzo Mollica.

This is the verdict of the 69th edition of the David di Donatello awards, which have become much more spectacular for the first time, in
broadcast in prime time on Rai 1 from the Cinecittà studios hosted by Carlo Conti and Alessia Marcuzzi.
