the comic story told to children

There Palace of “Quackserta”, its architect “Vanenselli”, but the story is the true one and the story faithful to reality. It is the “paperinized” Palace that enters the pages of baby mouse and in the collective imagination of thousands of children throughout Italy. In fact, on May 8th the issue of Topolino will be released on newsstands, entirely dedicated to the Museum and Luigi Vanvitelli. “Uncle Scrooge and the royal inspiration”, the title of the comic proposed by the historic weekly, published since 1949 and published by Panini since 2013, will therefore lead fans to discover the enormous spaces of the Vanvitellian Complex and Uncle Scrooge himself will illustrate the beauties of the Palace to the amazed grandchildren.

«The king used it to be a first-class ruler» explains Scrooge, «Moreover the fountains and everything else are supplied by an aqueduct that Vanenselli built specifically» and «over the centuries it has powered 47 factories, including a silk factory extremely valuable”, adds the miserly uncle par excellence. While Qui, Quo, Qua amazed underline: «Extraordinary! The Palace had to pay for its luxuries without taxing its subjects…indeed, producing wealth.” The economics lesson even inspires Uncle Scrooge who admits: “Yes, it’s a masterpiece also for financial shrewdness.” Thus, from one strip to another, the history of the Palace unfolds. Obviously there will be no shortage of unforeseen events for the usual, unlucky Donald Duck and the criminal attempts of the Bassotti gang. While the rich and ambitious Uncle Scrooge cannot help but confess his admiration for the monument. An operation of great impact, implemented by the Royal Palace, led by Tiziana Maffei, which aims to promote awareness of its heritage among the public of children, adolescents and thousands of Panini comics enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the Museum is also alongside children with another initiative of a completely different nature but of extraordinary social importance. These are two Sunday walks (tomorrow and May 19th) in the gardens of the Royal Park where psycho-educational activities will be held for young diabetic patients. The initiative is the “Sant’Anna e San Sebastiano” hospital company which launches the second edition of the Reggia Project (Regulate, educate on blood sugar management together with art), aimed at improving the quality of life of children suffering from diabetes mellito and their families, focusing on the union between health and art, on the promotion of psycho-physical well-being through the enjoyment of art and nature. Supported by the strategic management of Aorn, the project was born from the collaboration between the simple operational unit of Pediatric Diabetology and Endocrinology, coordinated by Filomena Pascarella, which belongs to the complex operational unit of Pediatrics, directed by Felice Nunziata, the Royal Palace, the Municipality and the association “L’Isola che non c’è”.

The two days will begin at 9.30, when the young patients, accompanied by their parents and the team of the Diabetology Unit, will live experiences aimed at better managing the chronicity of the disease from both a psychological and nutritional point of view, through culture and nature. The project supports and strengthens the activity of the pediatric diabetes clinic of the Caserta hospital, which is a provincial reference centre. «In our hospital – says Pascarella – we follow around 150 patients aged between 1 and 18 years. Type 1 diabetes represents the most frequent endocrine-metabolic disease of the pediatric age, which interferes in every aspect of the child’s life and experiences. To assist a diabetic child effectively, it is necessary not only to guarantee prevention, diagnosis and treatment, but also to stimulate him with targeted psychological and psycho-educational interventions, which can help him live the relationship with the chronic nature of the disease with serenity.”

Thus, the Palace also discovers another function, the therapeutic one through the enjoyment of its beauty, while everything is already ready to welcome the thousands of visitors expected tomorrow, the first Sunday of the month, with free access. As always on free Sundays the apartments and the park will be open to visitors. However, the Vanvitelli Rooms, the Visioni exhibition, the English Garden and the Court Theater are closed. The tickets, already almost completely sold out on TicketOne, will be available at the ticket office, starting from 8.30am tomorrow, until sold out.
