GIRO D’ITALIA 2024, TODAY’S STAGE VENARIA REALE-TORINO: THE ROUTE
140 kilometres, a short but exciting stage, with almost 2000 meters of altitude difference. After a nice long slight slope of 48 kilometres, you arrive at the first climb Berzano di San Pietro, 2800 meters at 5.3% (fourth category). Touching moment with the climb towards the Basilica of Superga (8.2 km at 4.3%), passing by the site of the tragedy that involved Grande Torino 75 years after the event. We then enter a final circuit with the double ascent to San Vito (1.5 km at 8.6%) interspersed with the second category of Maddalena Hill (7 km at 6.8% and peaks of 11%). The last ascent ends -5 from the finish line.

Stage open to multiple scenarios to award the first Pink Jersey. Obviously, however, the most popular name is that of Tadej Pogacar who could try to bring the record from the inaugural stage to the last stage. But watch out for classic men: a Julian Alaphilippe particularly crackling at Romandie promises well, at home in Italy he can try on his home roads Filippo Ganna. However, also keep an eye on the other men in the rankings who will already be at attention: from Geraint Thomas to Romain Bardet, fresh from second place in Liège and therefore lively also due to the partial success.
