BASILICATA – In the heart of Basilicata, between two villages considered among the most beautiful in Italy – Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa – the adventure of the Flight of the Angel is renewed, like every year. The inaugural day (May 1st) of this new tourist season (the eighteenth, until November 10th) recorded an incredible turnout: 150 reservations were made in advance on the site – despite the uncertain weather – and 60 tickets disconnected at the moment, thus confirming the strong interest of lovers of strong emotions and travelers looking for unique experiences.

This Lucanian attractor, although in operation for many years (since 2007), continues to arouse interest and curiosity, demonstrating its ability to involve and fascinate people of all ages and of any geographical origin, many even from abroad (France and Spain ahead).

The flight of the angel it is a journey suspended from a steel cable – at a speed of 120 km per hour – which allows you to be enraptured by the beauty of the rock spiers of the Piccole Dolomiti Lucane. You fly – alone or in pairs – for 1500 meters, along a trolley that slides on a steel cable and in complete safety, up to 600 meters above the ground.

«The numbers of bookings for the opening have far exceeded our expectations», says Donatello Caivano, Sole Director of the Volo dell’Angelo Consortium. «This testifies not only to the continued attractiveness of our corner of paradise in the middle of the mountains, but also to the trust that tourists place in our ability to offer unforgettable experiences, from hovering in the air, to via ferratas, from the Norman staircase of Castelmezzano to the castle of Pietrapertosa. For the upcoming summer, the prospects are more than rosy. The positive trend at the start suggests that this could be one of the most memorable seasons to date”, remarks Caivano.

«Our landscape, which is the real attraction, is waiting for nothing more than to be crossed by travelers who want to feel with their eyes and see with their hearts», comments Teresa Colucci, mayor of Pietrapertosa. And there is no shortage of initiatives that will act as a corollary. «Before the summer we will name a route after Rudi Padula, founder and former president of the CAI section of Potenza, for a walk in the midst of nature, starting from the Ponte della Vecchia».
And in the meantime, the area is also preparing to welcome an innovative addition to its tourist panorama: the sled lift in Castelmezzano, which will open at the beginning of July. This new infrastructure will offer another breathtaking experience among the mountain peaks.

«The construction of the Lucanian Dolomites sled lift is not only a step forward for regional tourism, but also represents an exemplary model for the redemption of the entire Southern Apennines. The sled lift not only offers new economic development opportunities, but also helps to strengthen the sense of community and belonging among residents, as well as being a leading destination for adrenaline and sports lovers at any time of the year », concludes Nicola Valluzzi, mayor of Castelmezzano.
Tickets, single or couple, can be purchased in electronic format via the online procedure on www.volodellangelo.com and allow you to make one outward and one return flight, with a departure of your choice from one of the two municipalities hosting the train stations. ‘plant.
