Spahija: “We wear the Reyer shirt, always play to win”

On the last day of the 2023/24 regular season, Umana Reyer Venezia hosts Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro at the Taliercio. In fact, the tap-off is scheduled for Sunday 5 May at 6.15pm at the Palasport Reyerino.

The orogranata are already mathematically fourth in the standings, but they want to close the regular season well in front of their fans. The Marches, on the other hand, are engaged in the fight not to be relegated and show up at the Taliercio in search of two points which, in the event of favorable results from PalaVerde (Treviso Basket defeat) and PalaCarrara (Varese victory), would mean salvation.

In the first leg Umana won at the Vitrifrigo Arena 64-76 with 14 points from Tucker and 13 from Simms. Valerio Mazzola, Riccardo Visconti, Leonardo Totè (out due to injury) are the former Orogranata players on the VL roster, while in the Orogranata team no player has worn the Pesaro shirt in the past. Previous: Reyer ahead in the previous 45-44. Umana has won 9 of the last 11 direct clashes with the Marches.

The words of coach Neven Spahija: “Simms and De Nicolao are back in the group, Heidegger is recovering from an injury, but he should be in the match. We have trained well this week, we are prepared. It is an important match for us, we already know we are fourth, but we must be professional and we don’t want to lose any more matches. We wear the Reyer shirt and we must always play to win and Pesaro will certainly be prepared and very motivated, but we want to win in front of our fans.”
