The closing event of the project managed by AVIC S04_2 – one of the four Agencies for Independent Living in Campania – will be held in Pontecagnano Faiano (Salerno) on 7 May, with the meeting called “The role of Agencies for Independent Living in the formation of the life project”, which will generally constitute an opportunity to take stock of independent life in the Region and to underline to the institutions how necessary it is to invest in projects linked to independent life itself

We already dealt with some time ago four Independent Living Agencies (AVIC) financed by Campania region through Regional Law 41/86 and promoted by a partnership made up of the Social Promotion Association MOVE (Independent Life Movement Campania), from FISH Campania (Italian Federation for Overcoming Handicaps) and by the Social Cooperative Icarus branded ANFFAS (National Association of Families and People with Intellectual Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders). These are the AVIC A05 of Atripalda (Avellino), the AVIC S5 of Salerno, the AVIC S04 of Pontecagnano Faiano (Salerno) and the AVIC N23 of Nola (Naples).

In the morning of May 7 next – a date chosen not by chance, as it is only two days after the European Day for Independent Living on 5 May – the Alda Merini Municipal Media Library of Pontecagnano Faiano (Via Trento, 10 am) will host the closing event of the project curated by AVIC S04_2, with the meeting called The role of Independent Living Agencies in the formation of the life planwhich will generally constitute an opportunity to take stock of the independent life in Campania and to underline to the institutions how necessary it is to invest in projects linked to independent living itself.

Opened by greetings from Gerarda Sicacouncilor for social policies of Pontecagnano Faiano, and of Tommaso Maioriellocoordinator of the S04_2 Area, the meeting – which will be broadcast live online on the MOVICA Facebook page – then includes interventions by Daniele Romanopresident of FISH Campania and of Maria Rosaria Duraccio, president of MOVICA. The conclusions will be entrusted to Giuseppe Lanzaramayor of Pontecagnano Faiano and others Lucia FortiniCouncilor for Social Policies of the Campania Region.

«Independent life – he states Maria Rosaria Duraccio – it is a concept that is still not widespread and not a priority, which is why it is necessary for the institutions to realize the need to allocate more funds for customized projects for people with disabilities. Life projects like those activated through the AVICs give a sense of the work we put in every day. We hope they can act as a stimulus for the institutions and for the world of politics, so that the associative world is better accompanied in this path”. (SB)
