An extemporaneous Citizens’ Committeeall originating from Conflenti and transplanted to Lamezia Termehas organized for next Saturday, May 4th, the “Conflentesità Rally”, which will start at 6.30 pm with the celebration of one Holy Mass at the “Del Redentore” Church.
For the occasion, the place of worship of Lamezia will become one little “Visora”, because all the devotees of the “Madonna della Quercia”, led by the Rector of the original Church, Don Adam Castagnaro.
The Committee therefore decided to reproduce, for the gathering, a perfect “Conflentesità”, enhancing identity values which for the population of the charming town at the foot of the Reventino, are mainly related to its elevation spiritualized.
“The Madonna of the Oak” is celebrated in all latitudes of the world, from Canada to Australia, passing through the Piedmontas to Borgo Ticinowhere there is even a reproduction of the Church, also entitled to the “Madonna della Quercia”.
Faced with this “worldwide” religious sentiment, there couldn’t not be a moment of communion for the Conflentesi who, over the years, have colonized, in large numbers, the city of the plainwhere everyone had the ability to fit into key roles.
In fact, the Conflente residents of Lamezia are more than two thousandand all are animated by the sense of belonging and pride for their origins. This is why they have already intended to join the Gathering in large numbers.
The end of the religious ceremony will sanction the transition from the “Sacred to the Profane”. In fact, the convivial phase at a well-known Lamezia restaurant, in a personalized environment dedicated to the best cultural traditions. For this phase, the Committee has bothered the great Poet of Conflenti, Vittorio Butera, from whose vast artistic production, a famous composition has been extrapolated which typifies, in a colorful way, the “Cujjintara race”: “O cujjintara race of left-handed people.
